Happy V-Day

We had a fun Valentine's Day! We spent the day getting a book together for Kevin and I prepared dinner with Cole's help of course.

We had heart shaped pancakes for breakfast which didn't really turn out. Guess I better work on those. Than for dinner we had:
Sesame Chicken
Baked Potatoe
Long Green Beans
Rolls
Dessert:
Rasberry Pretzel Dessert

It was fun to have a little something by each person's dinner plate. Cole got a growing turtle (which is our new family pet) and a little launcher rocket. Dailey got lip gloss and some play rings. Kev and I got a book and Beef Jerky. Than we went around and said what we love about each family member.

I got to go out on Saturday with my favorite Valentine. I told Kevin I would plan it. I thought it would be fun to go snowshoeing but on Friday we found out he has pneumonia. So I didn't think that would be very wise. Also it may be a little much for me being pregnant and all. So we cancelled those plans and went to dinner and a movie! I love just spending time alone together with him. He is such an awesome guy.
Before we went out on Saturday he had flowers and a present all wrapped and hidden and pulled it out just as we were leaving.
I tease him that he can't surprise me. Because I usually end up finding things out but the flowers and present was Definitely a SURPRISE!
Thanks babe I love you.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We are the luckiest family in the World...

Kevin went out of town for a few days on an audit for work. We traded cars so he took the jeep and we took the hyundai. Our little, black, getting older car! Well when Cole found out we were traveling around in this, he exclaimed... We Are The Luckiest Family In The World!!!!!

I laughed ...and how funny it was that I thought about that through out the entire day as we ran around and did our errands. Oh wow how I need to look at things through the eyes of that great kid. Yes we are the luckiest family! We have a car that is running and works great for us. And I forgot how fun it is to drive a clutch (ok, just not in stop and go traffic) and little cars are fun! I feel like I just zip around.

Now later that day I had to remind my self how lucky we were when we were running to the car in the rain, hail, snow storm and I could not get the door unlocked and had to sit and jiggle the key back and form while being pelleted with hail and holding Dailey and our shopping bags. :)

But all in all our trusty Hyundai we do love you. Keep on running!! Oh and thanks Kev for letting me drive the Jeep. I love those automatic locks to pieces!

Bubbling Wizard's Brew...

We made this magic potion while Cole's cousin was over. They were so excited to see this bubble over. This is one that was in the science book we got.
You just need:
Vinegar
liquid soap
baking soda
food coloring
jars
We also added glitter

Missed the Creative line in heaven...

Since I have to see things before it jump starts my creativity, I bought a few books that we now just love around here and have been pulling them out everyday. Even if it is not create a craft Tuesday. Or whatever day that was on.
We have done a few experiments and crafts in these books and it has been so much fun.
I remember having a book when I was little that would show us all the crafts to make and also one that was a fun food book of little things to make in the kitchen. I loved doing those things and have really enjoyed doing this with Cole and soon Dailey too.

Inside Fun...

A few weeks ago I realized we were watching a little much tv around here. I usually only turn on PBS kids because well I don't love the disney channel for some reason. I think it does have some ok shows but I hate the cartoon ones. I think they are a little on the sassy side. Although I am not sure I know all the shows that are even on that station so I may be judging wrongly. Anyhow we stick to movies and pbs kids around here for the most part.

So Most people do these things on a regular basis but I need it written down to help me remember to do it. So I came up with this. Silly thing.
Mondays- We Clean, Laundry, and I want to organize 1 drawer or closet.
I want to teach these things to my kids too.
Tuesdays- Is Create a Craft Tuesday
I would like to do one for me and one for the kids
Wednesday- Play date Wednesday. I would like to visit people or invite people over

Thursday- Is Thinking Thursday. Where we learn something new or go to the Library
Friday- Is Field trip Friday- Go somewhere fun

We started doing this and Cole was so excited. He kept asking if it was field trip friday. Of Course we we are flexible and change around the days and even do all this on just one day sometimes but it is kind of fun to have a little bit of an outline of what we like to do even if it ends up being on all different day or all in one day!

Homemade Hamburger Buns...

I decided to try this recipe and make my own hamburger buns. They turned out really yummy. The dough was such a nice consistency. I also tried making parmesan chips. That idea came after I had Kneader's chips that they make from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Place all ingredients in pan of bread machine according to manufacturer's directions.
  • 2 Select dough setting.
  • 3 When cycle is complete, turn out onto floured surface.
  • 4 Cut dough in half and roll each half out to a 1" thick circle.
  • 5 Cut each half into six 3 1/2" rounds with inverted glass as a cutter.
  • 6 Place on greased baking sheet far apart and brush with melted butter.
  • 7 Cover and let rise until doubled, about one hour.
  • 8 Bake at 350° for 9 minutes.
  • 9 Note: Oven temperatures vary so check after 9 minutes to see if done. Some reviewers baked these anywhere from 12 to 30 minutes.

    Bountiful Baskets...

I have never tried the co-op Bountiful Baskets. I have heard a few good things about it, so I thought I would give it a try. However on their site I did not really understand when they do it and I guess you sign up for it on a certain day. I am still looking into information on it.

In the mean time. I decided to do my own little bountiful basket. I went to Sam's club where I usually don't buy fruit but I picked me up some:
    Oranges
    Pears
    Strawberries (Cole's suggestion)
    Bananas
    Pineapple
I thought it would not be like the co-op if I didn't pick up a fruit I don't normally buy and yes pineapple is that fruit.
I came home and put it out in a basket on our counter. It has been fun to look at and now I am seeing that we all are eating more fruit. Which is always a good thing. Right!
