Since I am the Queen of coping ideas. I know sad but true. I copied the tradition of my sweet sis in law and her family. Where they get a hotel one night in December and stay the night and go look at lights and play.
Well Kevin was going to be starting a new job and was going out of town. So I thought it would be fun if we took a little get away downtown. We had some rewards money to spend at certain places so we chose through travelocity and booked the Marriott city center hotel. It actually was right next to his new work building. I didn't even know that at the time of booking it. We didn't tell Cole or Dailey we were going anywhere. We just loaded the car and headed straight to the hotel. We checked in early and the kids loved running around the room. We looked out the window at his new work building and than our room overlooked the galavan center where there ice rink was. We watched as people slid around on the ice. We even had a few laughs as people fell. Than we headed down to the pool. We were the only ones there. Since it was 3:00 in the afternoon. We swam and hung out in the hot tub. Than we went back and got ready to go out to see the lights.
We rode trax a block away and walked maybe 10 minutes and than the kids were done and wanted to go back. We saw Pier 49 on our way back and stopped in and grabbed a pizza and headed to our room. We watched tv, ate pizza, and treats and had a fun time.
The next morning Kevin headed off to Smith's to get us some breakfast since the hotel didn't have a free breakfast for us. (how rude)
Than we headed back to the pool and swam some more. The kids had a blast and we just enjoyed spending time with each other.
I think this is such a fun little thing to do and would not mind if we added it to our traditions. But we will see come next year!

Thanksgiving...
We had a great Thanksgiving! We did our traditional eat at Litza's pizza the night before. Than on Thanksgiving morning I went out running with my good sis Rach. Than came home and hung out with the family and got Kevin and Cole set to go play football with our ward. (a tradition they do every year) Kevin had to take donuts and drinks since he is in the Elders Quorum presidency. The girls and I stayed home and I cooked a turkey breast. I think it doesn't feel like thanksgiving unless you are in the kitchen cooking something yummy.
So The day before I had made a apple pie. My first ever pie. I felt very domestic.
My assignments for dinner this year was the pineapple slush and two fruit salads for the Bush family dinner. My Mother and I were also in charge of the plate favor. However my Mom pretty much created that one on her own. IT turned out so cute!
Than I made chocolate chip cookies to take for dessert at the Dearden family! We also got to open our traditional present from Grandma and Grandpa of opening a christmas story they buy each year. We LOVE the collection of books we are getting.
We had a nice time visiting with family. I am so blessed to have such great families!
Later that night we went home and put the kids to bed and I went out shopping! The stores opened at 10 this year. Crazy. We stayed out till 3 and I got to bed about 4 in the morning. It was crazy but eventful and fun too.

Cougar Football...
We went to the last home game of the season for the cougars. It was the night before Cole's birthday. So we headed there straight from Trafalga. It was another late game. My sweet Mom took my girls home for us so they didn't have to be out in the cold.
We had a great time hanging out with family and watching that game. We also got to eat some great food.
After the game we went and hung out to watch the players come off the field.
Cole was standing their with his cousins. His little cousin kept telling all the players it was Cole's birthday. They would say Happy Birthday and slap his hand. One player named Fangupo picked him up and said Happy Birthday! He told him to go on a mission! And than he told Cole to give him a big hug. so Cole did and he said "your strong, your going to be a line man one day" ha ha. oh man a lineman. Oh no! He was a very big guy. It was so fun Cole was beaming.
Than his cousin told another person coming out that it was her cousin's birthday. We weren't sure if he was a trainer or a coach but he said "well you need a hat. He took his hat off his head and put it right on Cole. It was a pretty fun night.

Happy Birthday Cole...
We had a great time celebrating our little man's 5th birthday! He was so excited. For weeks he had been writing down what he wanted on a list. He thought the list was a "get everything you want on it" kind of list. When I explained it was a wish list or an idea list so those getting gifts could have an idea of what he liked. He wanted to make copies of the list and hand it out to everyone he knew. I had to explain that it didn't quite work like that.
He did however end up getting a few things on the list. He loved everything he got and has been having a ball playing with it all.
On Saturday we went to Artic Circle for his birthday lunch and than we had a Bush family birthday bash at Trafalga where we played several games of lazer tag. Than we headed straight to the BYU game where he enjoyed being with some of his cousins and watching the game. After the game we went down and watched the players come off the field. More about that later.
We had a very late night. But it was such a fun day and fun last home game.
The next day we continued the celebrating. He opened presents and we ate breakfast and than went to a Homecoming. Than later celebrated his birthday with the Dearden family at our house.
We sure love you Coleman! You are a such a great little boy and man we just love having you in our family.

Well Visits...
I took the kids to the doctor for Cole's 5 year doctor appointment and Lucy's 6 month visit. It was so fun to see how much they have grown. Lucy weighs 14 pounds and Cole is at 44 pounds.
They both had to get shots. Cole was so brave. He asked me to hold his hand while he got the shots. They did him first and he cried for a few minutes. I was trying to comfort him and they were ready for me to have Lucy up on the table to do her shots. She got hers and she was crying and than they did Dailey's flu mist in her nose. So at one point all the kids were crying and there I was trying to give hugs and comfort all of them. It was kinda crazy. Than the doctor gave me an order to take to the Riverton Primary Children's to get a blood draw for Cole to test him for celiac. I told him as we pulled up that he was doing one more test and he freaked out. I finally got him inside and he loved all the stuff they had all around. He cried for a little while and than we finally got him in the chair and they drew his blood while he was crying. After he said well that wasn't bad. I think the shots before hand got him a little scared.

I'm Gonna make a Hot Cereal Lover Outta You...
Lucy is loving her Rice Cereal. She eats it so good. While eating her cereal, we like to sing the little song that we are gonna make a rice cereal lover out you. It makes her laugh and than she gets the food all over. So dang cute. Oh she is growing so big. We sure love her.
