If You Were Three......

If you were three
and could not see
Higher than the table;
And everyone put things on shelves
Whenever they were able;
And no one let you touch or squeeze
Or otherwise explore
How could you learn the thing you need
To know when you are four?

Leola B. Perry

My dear Grandma Perry wrote that poem. (My Mom's Mom) Having a two year old close enough to three, myself I can appreciate that poem a little more now. I love how my own Mother and Father have made it a priority to make sure that their grandchildren feel welcome in their home and are able to touch things and play with things. I am really also blessed that Kevin's parents do the same.

Seriously, how unfortunate that there are some homes that kids go into and are not able to touch this or that. Don't get me wrong. I like nice things and I think people should have some nice things. Especially Grandparents, they deserve and have things they may not want touched (keepsakes) but I think it is truly a blessing to have wonderful Grandparents on both sides who love and know that possessions we have, are Just That Possessions.

I need to do a better job at this. I think this poem is a good reminder for me. Not to take away from caring for our things and treating them with respect, which I also think is important to teach!

This is me, just thinking...
