Congratulations on your MBA Babe!

Last Saturday was the last day of school for Kevin. Wahoooo! He has been doing a two year program through the Utah State Extension program. We will now get our weekends back! I am so proud of him. He has been going to school almost our whole married life and working full time while doing it. He is so amazing to be able to juggle home, work, church, and school. Now it's the fun of getting ready for the CPA Exams!

If You Were Three......

If you were three
and could not see
Higher than the table;
And everyone put things on shelves
Whenever they were able;
And no one let you touch or squeeze
Or otherwise explore
How could you learn the thing you need
To know when you are four?

Leola B. Perry

My dear Grandma Perry wrote that poem. (My Mom's Mom) Having a two year old close enough to three, myself I can appreciate that poem a little more now. I love how my own Mother and Father have made it a priority to make sure that their grandchildren feel welcome in their home and are able to touch things and play with things. I am really also blessed that Kevin's parents do the same.

Seriously, how unfortunate that there are some homes that kids go into and are not able to touch this or that. Don't get me wrong. I like nice things and I think people should have some nice things. Especially Grandparents, they deserve and have things they may not want touched (keepsakes) but I think it is truly a blessing to have wonderful Grandparents on both sides who love and know that possessions we have, are Just That Possessions.

I need to do a better job at this. I think this poem is a good reminder for me. Not to take away from caring for our things and treating them with respect, which I also think is important to teach!

This is me, just thinking...

Happy Mother's Day!

This coming Sunday is Mother's Day! I know it will be a busy one so I thought I would take a moment and express my appreciation to the Mother's in my life.

I am truly blessed to have a Mother like mine! She means everything to me. There is not a day that goes by that she does not give and serve her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Thank you Mom for your example of Love! I watch you and am in awe of your ability to do it all!
Thank you for your quite and sweet Testimony of Jesus Christ I see it in all you do.

I am also very blessed to have Kevin's Mom in my life. She is such a wonderful Mother! I am so grateful to her for my Amazing husband. Thank you for raising him in the gospel. I am also so grateful for all she does for me and my family. Thank you for your love and kindness and wonderful example of service.

I hope you both have a wonderful Mother's Day!! You deserve it! I love you both and am grateful for your wonderful example's of what being a Mother is all about!

Side note: I know there are those Mother's who hate Mother's Day or feel guilty on this day. I am young in the mothering business but hey I say any day I get to kick my feet up and get a present well than I welcome that day! Not to say that may change in the future, since I have a lot to work on in the mothering department but hey gifts are always welcome. Ha Ha.

Easter Weekend Fun!

I was excited to color Easter Eggs with the little man this year, since last year he was a little young and did not care a lick about it. We went to Grandma Bush's house with the cousin's and Cole did not show any interest until a little later. He came to the table and I gave him an egg and he says "I crack it?" He did enjoy coloring some eggs along with cracking a few as well.

I seriously hate the smell of eggs especially hard boiled eggs. I wish I could like them but I'll be honest I can't get over the smell long enough to even get a bite to my mouth. Putting that all aside I did let Cole try his first hard boiled egg. He took a few bites and I thought oh great, he likes it and than out it came and he started to gag. So lucky for me Cole will not be requesting that smelly thing any time soon.

We had the Bush Family Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday afternoon and this was the first year that we hid some of the eggs in the park. It was really fun to see Cole run from one place to the next.

Coleman scored big with the easter candy!

The Easter Bunny came to our house!

The Easter Bunny hid Cole's easter basket in the dryer. It was funny to see Cole look for his basket. He almost missed seeing it in the dryer since we threw a few clothes over the top of it.

I must say the Easter Bunny did pretty good at hiding Kev's basket.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa Dearden's for an Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Dinner. We had a fun time looking for eggs and had a great evening with the Dearden's.

I love this picture. Cole was rolling down the hill after the easter egg hunt and I felt like this was a perfect picture for what a nice Easter Weekend we had.

Getting ready for General Conference.

There are three great things about this time of year.

1. March Maddness-love college Basketball
2. Spring-even though it does not feel like spring-yet
3. General Conference

I borrowed this little kids tent from my nephew so I can do a sharing time for primary. The lesson was on preparing ourselves for conference. I read a story in the friend where they were reading about King Benjamin and how the people would open their tents towards the temple and listen to King Benjamin. It went pretty good as far as my sharing times go. I did realize something though. All kids love tents!! We had the tent at our house and Cole made us eat lunch one day in it and breakfast the next day. He loved it.

Things I love about General Conference:

-Love being with my little family and listing to the prophet of the Lord.
-Making homemade sweet rolls
-getting together with the girls for craft or project night while the boys are at priesthood.
-Love waiting for the husbands to come home from priesthood and tell us what they talked about and having ice cream sundae's.
-Conference Bingo with Fruit Loops-tradition since I was little.
-Love going in any room in the house and seeing tv's and radio's all on conference.
Well I guess I better prepare myself for General Conference!

Congratulations Tyler on your baptism this past week. You are an awesome young man and have great parents!

Jim's Mission Call!

Jimmy got his mission call last Wednesday! We all gathered at 9pm to watch him open it.

Daniel James is hereby called to serve in the Atlanta, Georgia Mission!

Congratulations Uncle Jimbo! We are going to miss you.
Jimmy is such a great brother and I am really going to miss him. He is such a great Uncle to Cole. Whenever I see him he always has a smile and gives me a hug. He also stops what he is doing and takes the time to play with Coleman. He is going to make a great missionary.
We are so excited for you Jim. We love you!

First Day of Spring!

Spring is here! Okay so this week has been fabulous. I was so excited to get out this week and start planting my garden! We bought a nice tiller last year and only used it twice so It is time to pull it out and till, till, till. One problem, actually ran into a few. My good husband and also my good parents thought I should not be out running the tiller. Bless them they were just being careful on my baby and my behalf. But dang, I so badly just wanted to get out and do it myself. And I usually would have not listened and did it anyway because I am stubborn but I listened. Since Kevin was working and had prior commitments for almost every evening this past week, my Dad and Mom both told me they would do it. And they did. Mom came and tilled it up.
Thanks guys!
Also Thanks to Kevin's Dad! He came and fertilized our lawn. So nice.
Back to the garden. We have a lot of rocks. So Thursday night Kevin had time to till it again. He would till than rake the rocks up than till again. He is a little more on the perfectionist side than I. Third time around our tiller breaks. Yep, pretty brand new craftsman tiller. Broken. Great. So it delayed our mixing new soil in and planting until Saturday afternoon when Kevin got done from School and work!

My Boys working hard! Well not to worry. We did get a few things planted just in time for our spring party that night with the Bush Fam.

We or I should say Kevin planted Peas, Carrots, and Potatoes. Last year I did not plant potatoes so we will have to see how those turn out.

This is a picture of last years carrots and tomatoes. It was my first year ever with a garden. So I am hoping to improve each year. Also last year we did not use additives( if that's even what you call it) so this year is already off to a great start with some miracle grow and Kevin's and my parents prep of the soil and advice from Kevin's Dad too!

There is something so rewarding about planting a garden. Not only to have the food but to get out and do the work and see the progress is therapeutic and being outside always puts me in a good mood. I can't wait to see how it grows and to weed it! I can do that!
